It's that time of year again where I lay down my challenge to all of you! January first I will be hosting my 5th 365 Days of Gratitude Challenge via private Facebook group. What started as a fun experiment five years ago, has completely taken on a life of its own and has grown beyond my wildest expectations.
This all started with a challenge I participated in doing the very same thing. The challenge was to express one thing I was grateful for every day for an entire year. Initially, I thought it would be a cool project I could share on my blog. What I didn't anticipate was the impact it would have on my life.
I followed through and expressed something I was grateful for every day and by the end of the year, my life was profoundly different. There are days you may not feel a huge difference and it's easy to express gratitude. However, it's on the days that are really hard that expressing gratitude has the biggest impact. It's those days you have to dig really deep to find something you're grateful for that will cause the biggest shifts.
After you continue to do this for an entire year, it becomes an ingrained behavior. No matter what is going on in your life, you will turn to gratitude. When life is extra hard, you will notice yourself expressing gratitude for the lessons you're learning. When you lose a loved one you'll be grateful for all of the memories you've created with them. When one door closes you'll turn to gratitude for the window you know will be opening.
Living in a space of gratitude allows you to honor what is and not what you wish it would be. It allows you to be more present and connected in the moment, and it's been scientifically proven that present people are among the happiest in the world.
After I completed the challenge, I wanted to pay it forward and start my own. Every year my little challenge grows and it's now exceeded my wildest expectations! This year we have close to 100 people participating from all over the world. Not only are folks in the US sharing their gratitude but I also have people in the group from Canada, Australia, and Singapore - to name a few. This humbles me to my core because it's a massive ripple I'm responsible for putting into this world and that's an amazing feeling!
By just engaging in the simple act of sharing something we're grateful for every day we are changing our lives. It's by far the most rewarding group I host because I am blessed to see others experience the same shifts I have. I am often told by others that it's the highlight of their day as well. They love connecting with other grateful people, reading what everyone is so thankful for and seeing their news feeds filled with positivity. It all makes such a difference in how you're choosing to show up in the world.
We're gearing up to start a new challenge in the new year and I'd love to welcome YOU! If you want to make 2018 your most incredible year yet join us by clicking here to send me a message.
